Moved to Kearney Army Air Field, Nebraska on 3 May 1943. Assigned to the 547th Bombardment Squadron, squadron code SO*?, 384th Bombardment Group at Kearney AAF on 3 May1943. The aircraft took off from Kearney AAF on 19 May 1943 on a cross country flight to Dow Field, Maine With Pilot George B. Keck, Copilot Raymond A, Gaither, Navigator William W. Juart, Bombardier Arthur H. Bryant, Engineer/Top Turret Gunner Milton J. DeVille, Radio Operator Frank E. Hollingsworth, Assistant Radio Operator Walden A. Hughes, Assistant Engineer/Gunner Billy J. Jackson, Assistant Gunner Theodore Paduch, Tail Gunner Alfred Reiss, no one was injured and all returned to duty (RTD). On landing at Dow Field, Maine, the left brake was inoperative and the ship swerved, crashing into piles of earth. The aircraft was written off on 9 June 1943 and salvaged. |
