Failed To Return Comments: Lead Squadron. Knocked down by FLAK. Flak destroyed the front of the aircraft "back to the cockpit instrument panel" killing the Co-Pilot, Navigator and Togglier. The rest of the crew bailed out, and all were taken POW except the Ball Turret Gunner who was missing and presumed to have died under unknown circumstances. The aircraft hit the ground a few miles north of Neuried, Germany (between Munich and Oberpfaffenhofen). |
