Assigned to the 545th Bombardment Squadron, squadron code JD-Q, 384th Bombardment Group, station 106, Grafton Underwood, UK. The aircraft failed to return from a mission to Hamburg, Germany on 25 June 1943 with pilot-George W. Riches, co-pilot-Richard J. McCray, waist gunner-William T. Waller, tail gunner-Stanley S. Martin (4 Killed in Action). The navigator-Donald J. Irwin, bombardier-Joseph Derer Jr., engineer/top turret gunner-Bernard H. Anderson, radio operator-Freeman S. Penney, ball turret gunner-Guy E.
