Formation of 544th Sqdrn, 384th BG B-17s on course to target (June, 1944)

Just visible under the wing in the upper right corner, are two Pathfinder (PFF) B-17s leading the formation.

Aircraft at bottom left is B-17G-20-DL, Ser. No. 42-37982, (SU-K), "Tremblin Gremlin". The Clayton crew flew "Tremblin Gremlin" on several missions during January, March, and April, 1944. This aircraft was shot down on a mission to Hamm, Germany on September 19, 1944.

A point of interest - aircraft at bottom center was also named "Tremblin Gremlin". This aircraft, B-17G-70-BO, Ser. No. 43-37703, (SU-P) was lost January 22, 1945 on a mission to Sterkrade, Germany.
