  • Graduated from Bombardier School at Williams Field, Mesa, Arizona, Class #43-01, 23 January 1943.
  • Ordered to attend Gunnery School at Snettisham, Norfolk, for approximately 10 days beginning on or about 30 May 1943, on AAF Station 106 Special Orders #21 dated 30 May 1943. Students are required to bring .50 cal. Ammunition, gas mask, steel helmet, mess equipment, blankets, clothing for ten days, and draw 'PX rations' in advance.
  • VOCO of 5 November 1943 placing 1LT Carlson on Temporary Duty for approximately two days on or about 5 November 1943 to 8th Bomber Command, purpose Official Business is hereby confirmed and made of record per AAF Station 106 Special Orders #151 dated 23 November 1943.
  • Placed on detached service with the 92nd Combat Wing for an indefinite period as of 30 November 1943 on SO #158 dated 1 December 1943. Shortly thereafter, when the HQ and groups of the 92nd Wing were transferred to the 94th Wing, Carlson apparently moved with them.
