Transportation Targeted: The 384th Bombardment Group (H) flew as the 41st Bomb Wing A group on today's mission. The field order stated that if the primary target could not be attacked visually, groups should attempt to attack last resort targets or targets of opportunity - all marshalling yards or other railroad facilities in Germany - by visual means. If no visual targets were found, the primary should be attacked by PFF. The Group, after failing to locate a target of opportunity that could be attacked visually, released their bombs on the primary target using PFF aiming. Due to inclement weather over England on return from this mission, 12 aircraft landed at other bases. |
