Weather Reduces Force: The 384th Bombardment Group (H) flew only twelve of the planned thirty-nine aircraft on today's mission. After the first twelve took off (all squadron leads and deputies, and six aircraft of the lead squadron), Wing advised Group of a 30 minute delay, so remaining aircraft were held on the ground. A heavy fog settled in preventing any further takeoffs, so the twelve aircraft already airborne completed the mission. On return they were diverted to Swansea, Wales, landing at RAF Fairwood Common. |
