Failed To Return Comments: First Squadron. Knocked down by flak. Hit at 1014 hours in the target area. A direct hit burst in the bomb bay. The entire aircraft became enveloped in flames with the wings observed falling off, then the fuselage broke up at the ball turret and directly behind the pilots seats. The wreckage crashed near Wesseling am Rhein, Germany. MACR 9478. |
