Hamburg Hammered: A practice mission scheduled for today was scrubbed when a Field Order was received in the morning. The Group flew as the 41st Bombardment Wing A Group on today's mission. The primary (visual only) target was hidden by clouds, so the #2 target was attacked using PFF, with minimal help from visual sightings. The high and low squadrons bombed on their first run, but the lead squadron had to avoid traffic conflicts, and elected to make a second bomb run. As a result, the lead squadron returned to base independently. |
