The 384th Bombardment Group (Heavy) flew as the Low Group of the 103rd Combat Bomb Wing (Provisional) on today's mission, led by Col. Budd J. Peaslee. Although a bombing run was attempted from the planned IP, no bombing reference points in the target area were visible. Adhering to official policy - bombing only positively identified targets of military significance in occupied territory is permitted - bombs were not dropped. A B-17 gunship - known as a YB-40 - supplied by the 92nd BG, flew as #3 in the lead squadron.
