MISSION SUMMARY

Mission Date 24 December 1944
384th Mission Number

243F
8th Air Force Mission Number 760
Mission Comments Squadron Launched From Horham
Many 384th aircraft landed at Horham (95th BG) yesterday, and launched a squadron as part of the 13th Combat Wing F Group today. The primary target was visible to the naked eye through the haze, but the bombardier could not pick it up in the bombsight, due to the glare from flying directly into the sun. The formation proceeded to the secondary target and began a PFF run, but bombs were away visually as the bombardier had picked up the target three minutes before the release point. On their return, all of these 384th aircraft were diverted to Sudbury.
