England Travel Tips   AND   Useful England Info

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • 13 September: Welcome day.
  • 19 September: Farewell and departure day.

HOTEL INFO: We will be using two hotels; one at Heathrow Airport for the initial pickup and final dropoff point for the reunion, and another in Cambridge as the HQ for all activities.

The Sheraton Heathrow Hotel will be the location at which our Tour Manager Rick Hobson will greet us and take us via private executive coach to Cambridge at "midday" on 13 September. Note that rooms are available at the Sheraton for the night of 12 September for those who wish to arrive a day early and have a little extra time adjust to the time zone change. This is also the location we will return to at the conclusion of the reunion, for an overnight stay (included in the tour price).
PLEASE NOTE: this hotel is the Sheraton Heathrow - there other Sheratons nearby, so make certain you go to - or are taken to or dropped off at - the one located at Colnbrook Bypass, West Drayton.

The Hilton Cambridge City Centre at 20 Downing Street, Cambridge, will be our headquarters for the reunion. This hotel is close to many attractions in downtown Cambridge, including the historic Eagle pub, which is less than a five-minute walk away.

INDEPENDENT ACTIVITIES - You may have time on your hands: For instance, on Friday, 15 September, you may wish to tour the city on your own or with your new friends, or sneak over to The Eagle for a pint of nostalgia...

Alternatively, the Museum invites volunteers from among Junket XII attendees to participate in a workday on Friday, 15 September 2023, at the Museum site in Grafton Underwood. Bring work gloves and work clothes; they will supply safety equipment and tools. Transportation from Cambridge (and return) will be provided, with pickup at the hotel at 9:00AM. Additional details will be made available closer to the date. If you would like to do some useful work for the Museum alongside our Museum friends, please email your interest to

TRANSPORTATION: Arena Travel will provide transportation for all organized activities using private executive coaches from pickup on 13 September at the Sheraton Heathrow, to dropoff at the same location on the evening of 18 September. To get around Cambridge beyond walking distance, "hop-on, hop-off" buses, cabs and other forms of transportation are readily available. Rick Hobson and the hotel staff will be able to advise us on things to see and do.
