Cadet Winthrop Jackson began basic training at Perrin Field, Sherman, TX on February 20th, 1943.
His instruction was in the Vultee BT-13A, unofficially known as the "Vultee Vibrator" due to the distinct vibration of the large glass and frame canopy.
Jackson logged 74 hours and 10 minutes in BT-13s by the time he finished basic on March 18th, 1943.
The photo of the BT-13 shown here in a pre-war Army Air Corps paint scheme was taken in Grass Valley, California in July, 2002.
