B-17F 42-30046 "Merrie Hell"

"Merrie Hell" was an original aircraft for the 546th BS, and was lost on the August 12,
1943 mission to Gelsenkirchen, Germany, pilot by 547th pilot Ernest Sierens. "Merrie
Hell" received a direct flack burst at 30,000' which blew off the nose back to the top turret.
