Eighth Air Force Operations Show Operations
384th Bomb Group Mission
384th BG Mission Number 124, Eighth AF Force Mission Number 388
Equipment Difficulties
The 384th Bombardment Group (H) flew as the 'second' Group (30 seconds behind the 303rd BG) of the 41st A Combat Bombardment Wing on today's morning mission. The first bomb run was started as a PFF run, but the target became clearly visible, causing the crew to switch to visual aiming. In that process, the AFCE went out, necessitating a second try. On the second bomb run, the target could not be picked up visually, nor could any other briefed target be seen. Finally, a gun emplacement in the area was seen and attacked.
