Previous 384th BG Reunions
384th BG Memorial Junket X, 2005
"Our Last Hurrah"
Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England
September 8-13, 2005

From our headquarters at the Huntingdon Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England, 384th veterans, spouses, relatives, friends and supporters fanned out over the countryside on organized and independent activities. The veterans seemed tireless, and I was run completely ragged. The laying of memorial wreaths at the monument was very moving. I was selected to lay the wreath in memory of the 546th Bomb Squadron - my Dad's Squadron - and I was completely choked up. In all, it was a moving experience, preserving the memory of significant past events and accomplishments, along with meeting new friends and enjoying the present - thanks to these veterans and all the others.

REPORT ON JUNKET - Read the nice article "384th BG remembers fallen comrades" in the Lakenheath "Jet 48" magazine, the Junket Journal by our own Frank Alfter, and see all the people and activities in the MJX Photo Diary. Be sure to add your comments, especially if identification is missing, or *gasp* wrong!

Here's what we did:

  • Get Acquainted Reception
  • Business Meeting
  • Duxford Air Show and Tour
  • Banquet (delicious!)
  • St. James the Apostle Church Service
  • Monument Memorial Service
  • Grafton Underwood Base Tour
  • American Cemetery at Cambridge, Madingley
  • Farewell Dinner Dance
Transportation was provided to all activities

"Eagles Over Mississippi"
May 26, 2001 Starkville, Mississippi

This is an event that developed from my (Marc Poole's) graduate thesis work, and proved to be a huge success with over 12,000 people in attendance. Several 384ther's were present, including Joe Turlington, Burnia Martin, James Traylor, and Eugene Spearman. Over 20 WW II vintage warbirds attended the fly-in, including the Lone Star Flight Museum's B-17 "Thunderbird." There were also over 45 other aircraft on hand.
